Nokia BH-905i

In some parts of the UK, as much as 20% of the population complain of noise pollution. In cities, birds have started to sing at night so their song can be heard. Silence, it seems, is increasingly precious. Imagine, then, how wonderful it would be if you could switch off the world when you switch on your music. An impossible dream? Not anymore. Meet the Bluetooth Stereo Headset BH-905i, one of the most effective low noise headsets on the planet.

4-in-1 convenience in a case

The first thing you notice about the BH-905i is its carry case. Made from sturdy leather, it has been specifically designed to hold both the headset and its accessories. And what a selection there is. As well as providing a Bluetooth connection for your phone and computer, the BH-905i’s airline adapter ensures you’ll get a silent trip on any plane. A 2.5mm to 3.5mm wire and a selection of jacks mean you can connect to a wide selection of gadgets, too.

And even though the battery guarantees a massive 25 hours of Bluetooth use, the wires allow you to enjoy your tunes even if that runs out. On top of all this, the BH-905i’s microphone lets you take calls as well.

Made to measure

Convenience is one thing, but what about the headset itself? Like Nokia phones, Nokia accessories endure rigorous durability tests, and when you hold the BH-905i, you can really feel the build quality. Made from metal, sturdy plastic and high quality padding, it’s smaller and 8 grams lighter than its predecessor, the BH-905. What’s more, it now comes in two colours: metallic black and ice white.

Nokia’s enthusiasm for ergonomics is obvious from every design feature. The headband is expandable and the earpieces swivel, so regardless of your head size you’re guaranteed a perfect fit. With open ear cups, the BH-905i also avoids the unwanted distortion and poor

sound fidelity associated with closed ear cup headsets. Yet the BH-905i’s Active Noise Cancellation means you can still listen to music in noisier environments.

Immerse yourself in music

In fact, the BH-905i has been specifically designed to immerse you in music. The speaker element, the speaker driver and the carefully selected foams that surround it all work together to make sure that the space between your ear and the driver has excellent acoustic properties. Add to that a new bass boost function and stereo widening, and the result is a balanced soundstage with crisp details and deep bass – just like the musician originally intended.

Don’t crank the volume up. Turn the world down.

But the feature that makes the BH-905i truly magical is its noise cancellation technology. This uses not one but eight microphones, which listen to the surrounding noise. The electronics in the headset then generate an exact opposite copy of the sounds breaking through. When these two sound waves meet, they cancel each other out. Destructive interference, it’s called. And the result? Blissful silence with 99% of surrounding noise eliminated.

When listening to tunes, most of us simply crank up the volume if there’s too much noise in the background. With its unique noise cancellation system, the BH-905i lets you do better than that. It lets you turn the world down instead.

Never heard of this noise cancellation tech? Does it sound totally silent when it is on?

    Loud and Gear June 28 , 2011 @ 13:31

It gets rid of 99% ambient nose Cazzer, which means sounds like the drone of conversation, the hum of air conditioning and traffic. You’ll be really amazed how easy it is to immerse yourself in your music when you turn the world down.

Excellent sound quality…noice cancellation is un imaginable…it’s truely like turning the world down in a blink…wow…because of the ANC we do not have to up the volume of the music. So we can truely enjoy the music plus no inconvenience to ears…well done Nokia..

I bought a pair of these, they are awesome but the noice canceling doesn’t seem to work. What should I do?

    Loud and Gear January 21 , 2012 @ 08:08

Glad to hear you’re enjoying them, Joe. One way to see if the noise cancellation is working properly is to sit in a quiet room and turn on the ANC. If ambient sounds disappear you know it’s working. If not you can take them back to where you bought them.
